Central Coast and Big Sur

California’s Central Coast and Big Sur are home to many spectacular scenes from jagged coastlines and beaches to rolling meadows and rugged hills. The area is known as “The Greatest Meeting of Land and Sea” for a reason: it has it all, including from numerous natural wonders, hiking trails, State Parks, National Forest Lands, panoramic scenic views, waterfalls and wildlife. Scenic Highway 1 runs the distance of the central coast and big sur, between the rocky Pacific Coast and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Drive a while, stop a while, hike a while. If you have time, use it to explore this meeting of the land and sea.
