Xplor California continues with excursions around the Ojai Valley, also known by many as Shangri-La. Ojai is nestled in a small valley 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, and east of Santa Barbara, California. Known for its artist community, New Age spirit and day spas, the Ojai Valley has become a well-known tourist destination. The town has also been home to a variety of unique residents from John Lennon to Tara the roller-skating elephant to Krishnamurti to Meditation Mount to a boxing camp that trained legends such as Jack Dempsey to the longest running tennis tournament in the United States. The natural beauty of the surrounding landscape is highlighted by “Pink Moment” sunsets due to Ojai Valley’s rare east-west mountain range. Throughout the year, fading sunlight creates spectacular shades of pink on the Topa Topa range which rises more than 6,000 feet above sea level. The pink colored mountains are a magical moment that thousands of visitors come to Ojai annually to experience. Explore Piedra Blanca, hidden in the mountains of Los Padres National Forest behind the Ojai Valley.
